Coach Bobby Recaps the Last Two Games

Well boys we did it again pulling off a close one against the black again. We are really starting to figure out our jobs on the ice. If I were to tell parents anything this week it would be to tell the boys to slow down when they have the puck. Do not rush themselves into something so fast. When they have control of the puck do not just hit it away look for one of our white team mates to pass to. Points are as follows.

Jeremy had to unassisted goals, Jake had one unassisted goals and got got a goal from Jeremy. Good work boys. I know it is starting to look like a lot of unassisted goals however. These boys are stopping the play and moving the puck forward and our wingers are coming in the rebounds (junk). Well if there is no junk then our shooters are burying the puck on the first shot or picking up their own rebounds.

WOW is about all I can say. 8-4 win these boys really wanted to win. We had 2 natural Hat tricks today. A natural is only different in that they scored their hat trick in one period. Well that is rarely the case for our youngsters. I asked Brennen right before we started to line up for the first face off if he was going to skate hard or just skate today? He said I want to skate hard I said OK you can be the center. Boy did he mean business today. He scored our first 3 goals, 2 were unassisted and one came from Jeremy. Then I had to put Brennen on defense to cool him off a little so he switched out with Jeremy. then Jeremy got a natural as well, so I had to cool him off as well. they both scored 2 unassisted and then one from each other. Amazing how well these two play together.

Evan picked up a nice goal from Jeremy. Evan had another assist on a shot and there was Trace to pick up the JUNK. All of boys skated well today, Jack had done some awesome back checking, along with Aiden. Will and Trace always seem to be in there positions these days and it pays off. Andrew and Toby had multiple shots on net from the blue line and that was the most I have seen them step up into the play all year long.

Good job Fresh Gear White you guys played great.

A Game Recap from One Mom's Eyes

Fresh Gear Black vs CIA  3/28

Hideeo Ho to all Fresh Gear family & friends!  This past weekend, I had the pleasure of watching both Fresh Gear Black games. I was so amazed by what I saw! Firstly, during the first game (against Fresh Gear White) I was so impressed by all the precision passing. The drives to the net were fast and furious. Parker Siwicki has become a well focused player. The way he watches the play and positions himself is quite an accomplishment. David Zarycki has developed into an awesome defenseman, consistently keeping their big scoring player to the outside.  This is the first time I have been able to watch Richard Grover play-out and I was awestruck by his speed! Both teams were so evenly matched, that it made for a splendiferously spectacular and  exciting game to watch!

With Fresh Gear White not having another game that day we decided to stay to cheer on Fresh Gear Black against CIA. WoWuh! You guys were on fire! Ryan Bahula is a boy with eyes for position. He looks forward as he has the puck to look for opportunities and the boy is tenacious! Ryan Boehm is another force to be reckoned with. He is fierce and his eye is always on the puck. He is an established anchor for his team. Madison Natter had several shots on goal, and with an exception of the splashes of pink, she is the picture perfect model of a girlie girl who can hold her own with the boys in hockey (and that’s not easy)! Owen Arend is always at the right place at the right time. It is almost as though he knows exactly what is going to happen 30 seconds before it does, because he is always in the perfect spot with perfect timing. Nick Witucki is another player who really impressed me. He has grown big and his skills have caught up with his size making him an intimidation factor for any opponent!

Ok, I have to admit I was giggling up a storm watching Owen Corr, Evan Steh, and Cal Burghart skate circles, sometimes literally, around the CIA players. The CIA players tried time and again  to go around these guys, only to have one of them steal the puck back immediately and head back toward the goal. Jorge Novak and Sasha Pastujov BOTH had Hat Tricks! Stuart Leland was everywhere on the ice. He has learned to place himself in shooting and assisting positions as though he was born to do it! AMAZING! Frankly, I was having so much fun cheering, I cannot remember who scored the other 2 goals, but you know who you are and so does your team, so please pardon my lapse of memory! Last, but certainly not least, is Jarett Boehm. I admit, I think I saw a few zzzzzs coming out of his helmet at one point, but the few (4 if memory serves) shots on goal were skillfully covered and pushed away.

So for this mom, I wanted to take a moment to Thank the  Fresh Gear Black team for putting it all out there just to give me an invigorating game to cheer for! You guys and gals make-up a team of Hockey Heroes & Heroines!

Update from Coach Bobby

3/21

Well we are back to our winning ways. CIA played us well, but they only have one weapon. Our boys are starting to pass more in front of the net even if no one is there and that is a very good thing. Points went as follows, Jake from Brennen and Evan. Will from Jeremy and finally Brennen from Jake. I told the boys you can not win them all so putting forth a good effort after a lose is going to help ensure you learn from your loses. Good job boys.

Probably the best game as far as passing and helping each other out.

Still need to work on staying in our positions even when you think you are helping out by going to the other players position. This just means that there is one of the other players that has no one covering him.

Today the black teams only goal was because Ryan was in front of the net all by himself and 4 of our players were in the corner all trying to play the same puck. Points went as follows, Brennen unassisted and Jeremy from Jake. So many pucks went right in front of their net and either we did not have a stick down or their was no one there. Keep up the good passing, but remember to play your position only.  We only have

3 more games left please look at the schedule on the Website and contact your Coach if you can not make any of the upcoming games. Thanks boys that was a very exciting game

Special Update!

I just saw a copy of the team pictures of the Winter Season Mite Rec League 2010 and they are sensational! The boys were all smiling and showing their happy hockey faces. Thanks to all of you (the parents) for suiting your player up in game gear for this special event.

Thanks to all of our coaches for taking the time to gather their teams together for this memory making moment. In years to come, you will all be remembered as the coaches who taught them the game!

And a BIG THANKS to our volunteers Angela Cyaniuk & Suzanne Natter for organizing this event and taking the pictures. Since the winter season doesn’t schedule a photo shoot for teams, this was a really nice surprise for all of us. They are as good as any professional photos!

A Special Thank You to the Natter Family for giving each player a team photo. They will be distributing the photos on Sunday.

Hello Folks

Sorry about the late recaps but I was not feeling good all week long.

The game on 3/14/10

Clearwater is still our rink, we Won again 6-2. Jeremy collected 4 points, 3 goals and 1 assist. Evan had his grinding skates on and picked up a goal. Trace picked up some garbage on one of Jeremy's shots. Will and Jake both had assists on Jeremy's other goals. Then there was Jake's goal from Andrew it was right out of a high light reel. We seem to be getting a little relaxed in playing these boys. I know it is hard for them to continue to play the same team over and over, but it is a great learning tool for those who are starting to understand what the other kids are doing. Lane had a great game in net keeping all but two shot out of our net. It is starting to pick up in the goalies end. Good job boys.

Then there was tonight 3/19/10

I guess it was an exhausting Friday for our boys at school. We did not look like the same team as last week. Positions were not played well and a lot of our skaters were not themselves. We did manage to score 2 goals, Jeremy got the first and (hey listen to this ) Trace got the junk again from Jeremy's shot. Trace just always seems to be in the right place at the right time and he listens to his Coach by having his stick on the ice whenever he is close to the net. Evan and Jack did a lot of back checking tonight and that is awesome seeing the boys come back to help the defense is refreshing. It shows they do not want to see there goalie scored on. Tell the boys to get a good night sleep Saturday night so they are well rested for 2:30pm. I expect to see a complete turn around from our performance tonight.

Coach Bobby Recaps CIA vs. Fresh Gear Mites White 3/07

Hello parents and players

 

  Well it looks like our winning streak continues. We have the boys passing and genuinely starting to understand the game. Before we get started with the re cap we need to point out the every hard work that was put forth today by two kids that did not get any points, but did everything they could to help the team out. Evan and Aiden worked so hard at back checking (this means they skated hard back to our end to help the defense stop the rushing other players). This is when you know the kids are starting to listen to your hard work. We have discussed this every game and today we had more players do it but these two boys stopped the biggest kid on their team from even getting a shot off. Jack and Toby got some more assists, Jake and Jeremy each scored 2 goals, and even Lane finally got some action. Lane stopped alot of serious shots today. Trace put forth a great effort of being where he is supposed to be at all times. Andrew and Jeremy played stellar D today. I am going to leave the best for last MY BOY AUSTIN finally got his first point today.

He got an assist on Jakes second goal. This was from some aggressive shooting at the net and Jake picked up the rebound ( the garbage) as we call it. We only have one more player that needs to get his point for the season, but it is Lane. Parents this is very important to let me know if you are not going to be at the game. If your child is sick PLEASE stay home and call me. I do not want to offend anyone, but if your child gets someone else on our team sick that would not be good either. We have plenty of ice time so missing one game is not going to kill them. I hope you all enjoyed the game as much as I did it is a pleasure to have your boys on MY TEAM. They are learning this game very quickly (course that's good coaching). Hope to see all of you on Friday, Have a good week.
