Ellenton Rec Hockey Expectations
For Players and Parents
Greetings Parents and Players:
This is a letter to let you know what my coaching staff and I expect from you. I will always be open to speak with any parent or player when I have time. Below are a few rules that we would like to you know about before we get started.
1) Please be at games 30 minutes before we step on the ice. Your child's ice time will reflect your arrival time. Call if you are going to be late.
2) There will be zero tolerance for talking back, horseplay, swearing and fighting. Skaters will be asked to leave the ice, this includes parents
3) We will respect each coach and player on our team regardless of their skill level.
4) We will address the Coaches by- “Coach Bobby” or “Coach Derrick”.
5) There will only be one parent/guardian in the locker room per child. (Very important).
6) I will have a team meeting before each game before we get on the ice. This is done without parents. This gives me time to let kids focus and get pumped up.
7) If you feel our coaching skills are different than what you expect please come speak with a coach. We welcome your input. Please do not try to coach from the stands.
8) Our group will come to games dressed like young gentlemen and ladies. We are not asking for a tie and sports jacket or dresses, but if we look like a team we will play like a team. If you have a Fresh Gear golf shirt from last season, please wear that to and from the games. If you do not have one, please wear a collared shirt to and from games. It’s just good training for the upcoming years.
9) We are very open to any input from parents. You all know me and should feel comfortable speaking with me face to face. If there is a conflict or disagreement between coaches and parents we will ask Fred Eaton to be a third party to ultimately rule on any disagreements.
With our rules being mentioned I think we are going to have a great time with your kids. Most of you know I love to have time to goof around with your boys, however with a team it is going to be a little stricter than our clinics. As we move up together the skills are going to have to improve and we will do whatever it takes to bring your kids along in a timely manner. Our style of coaching will help your child learn and have fun. I am sure you will be happy with the outcome.
Thank you,
Coaching Staff
Bobby Varna, George Pastujov (Head Coach),
Derrick Swartzendruber, Jeff Siwicki, Vance Grover (Asst Coach)
